Wedding Planning Budget Breakout Check List

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

You set your final wedding budget, but don't know what your suppose to spend on each section of your big event? We have make a quick reference sheet for you to allocate your funds so you will have the wedding of your dreams!

By following this guide you can stay within in your budget and have a picture perfect wedding! Having your budget set before meeting with vendors will help you to find the right one for you.

The biggest chunk of your budget will go to the wedding reception because this includes many aspects. I would suggest taking the reception budget and then dividing it by the vendors in that category that you may need to hire so you have a detailed % for each. The reception site can get tricky if the venue does not supply the chairs, dance floor and food.

In this budget analysis we will assume the you are using a banquet hall for your reception and they are supplying all the items for the reception site that will be listed in that category.

Wedding Rings 3%

Stationary 3%

save-the-dates, invitations, programs, place cards, menu cards, thank-yous, stamps

Wedding Attire 10%

Wedding gown & veil, shoes, accessories, hair and makeup, groom wear, alterations

(if not using a wedding planner/coordinator I would add that 10% to increase this budget)

Wedding Planner 10%

(If not using a planner/coordinator use this for something else)

Wedding Ceremony 3%

marriage license, ceremony decor, ceremony site, officiant

Flowers 8%

bridal/bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flower girl, ceremony flowers, reception centerpieces, cake flowers, delivery and gratuity

(you could have your ceremony flowers transferred to reception venue to use as centerpieces to help cut cost on flower arrangements. Also you can use silk instead of fresh)

Transportation 2%

wedding party transportation (bus or limo), guest parking, hotel rooms

Gratuity (drivers, concierges, attendants)

Reception Location 48%

food, wedding cake, alcohol, furniture and dining, dance floor, lighting, decor

gratuity (waitstaff, coat check, bartenders)

Photography and Videography 12%

Usually includes engagement photoes, ceremony and reception photoes, prints/album

videographer captures ceremony and reception and gives you a DVD

Entertainment 8%

Ceremony music, Cocktail hour , DJ or band for reception

Gifts 3%

Reception favors, bridal party gifts, parents of the bride and groom, wedding attendants

Now that you have a budget start meeting vendors and sign those contracts!
A great place to meet many vendors at one location is bridal expos!
